Why I Am Blogging

Hello cousins!

(Yes, you.  All of you.  You are all cousins - whether close or distant.)

First a few words about the purpose of this new blog of mine.  I love history.  I love family history aka genealogy.  And I would LOVE to share it with those who are interested in a way better than just a chart or a tree or a random collection of dates or facts. 

I want to tell stories, give each person and event context.  And since it's highly unlikely I'll have time to write a book, I've chosen to tell these stories piece by piece in the form of a blog.  Friends and family can pop in at their leisure.  And the blog will be searchable by major search engines, so I'm hoping that this is a chance to reach a few distant cousins who might be researching the same names and places.

So with that introduction aside, let's begin!  And please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments you might have.  I would love to hear from you.
